Deep in the Bernheim Forest is a trail that leads to three big, friendly giants and you can see them, right in front of your own schnozzle! Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest is the home of Giants Mama Loumari with her children Little Nis and Little Elina. They were crafted by Danish artist Thomas Dambo and brought in to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Bernheim.

Please join Wellspring as we hike the approximately 2-mile round trip trail and check out each giant and enjoy the company of friends. While there is no designated picnic spot, feel free to pack one and a blanket to enjoy wherever you choose. There is also Isaac’s Cafe, near the visitor's center, which features sandwiches, soups, salads and kid's meals along with desserts. If you’re up to it after finishing the trail, there is a children’s Playcosystem area next to the visitor's center that is open for play.

When:  Thursday, April 13, 2023 @ 12 pm ​

• Please arrive around 12 pm. You will park in the visitor's center parking lot. Please enter the center and pay the suggested $10 per carload donation. We will start our journey once everyone has arrived and paid or by 12:30 pm.

Registration Deadline: Registration will be open until 10pm on                                                            Wednesday, April 12, 2023 

 

Schedule:

12-12:30 pm Arrive at visitor's center, pay for admission, pick up map and wait for all to arrive. You may also stop by Isaac's Cafe if you choose.
12:30-2:30 pm - We will begin our journey to see the giants. It may not take two hours, but this is generous time for playing, exploring and picnicking if you choose.

2:30pm- Arrive back at the visitor's center and enjoy the playcosystem or you may adventure off on another trail head if you'd like, but this is the end of our trip.

*As this is an outdoor gathering, and April weather is sometimes unpredictable, this field trip may be postponed to another day. You will be contacted via the email you registered with if a reschedule is determined.

What to bring:

• Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and shoes comfortable for hiking.

• Water, snacks and/or picnic lunch (or money to purchase from Isaac's Cafe)

• $10 for admission
